Week Twelve - Final Screening

 This weeks activities:

- Final screening ✅

- Acting on feedback ✅

- Upload both videos to NOW ✅

- Upload production log ✅

This week was our final week on the project. We had to complete our video and share it to our peers, tutors and client for some last minute feedback. This was very helpful as we had the opportunity to add some quick changes.

My contribution:

This week was quite hectic as we needed to finish and upload our project by the end of the week. I helped with uploading the videos, adding in some new voice over bits and finishing off the production log. In order to keep our client up to date, I also chatted with her to make sure she was happy with our videos and had completed all the paperwork. This week, I communicated well with my team to make sure we ended our project on a high note.

Week Nine - Test Screening

This weeks activities:

Test screening ✅

Client draft screening  ✅

Acting on peer and expert feedback  ✅

Additional filming  ✅

Updating the script  ✅

This week, we had to prepare for our test screening to our class, media experts and our client. Our draft wasn't up to standard, but this meant there was lots of room for feedback to act on.

My contribution:

This week was a bit chaotic however, I completed a lot of activities. We had several issues uploading our video, so I had to upload it to YouTube and send it to our client. I also gave our client a heads up to where we were, and reviewed the content she sent us. Additionally, I have been regularly updating our production log and have added in all our feedback from the test screening sessions. Finally, I wrote a new script and will be doing the voiceover for our video. I have acted on all the feedback we received in order to improve our project.

Week One - Group Identity Planning

Today, our group discussed different names, logo's and presentation ideas. We decided to call our group 'Spark Media' as it is catchy and works well with creative side of the module. This was Olivia's idea and we all agreed that we liked it. After this, we started to look into different logo's. Jade and I sent different options and we decided to choose my idea with the colours that Jade had picked. Everyone seemed pleased with logo and we all think that it is reflective of our group identity. We also created a group email and started planning our presentation for next week's session.

Week One - Pitch Planning

Questions
• Media form – what media form did the project use? • Purpose – what was the media project produced for? A course, a hobby, a competition? • Your role – what roles did you take on during the life of the project? • Skills demonstrated – what skills did you demonstrate through this project? Give a list of at least three. • Skills to be improved – what skills would you like to have improved through the project? Give a list of at least three.

GCSE Media – iMovie, Photoshop. I also made short videos as a hobby, so I was more confident with the software. Writing, editing and time management skills.

A level Media – Final cut pro, Photoshop, Professional camera. I made multiple magazines, posters and a horror film trailer. Leadership, creativity, camera and organisation skills.

NTU Media – Premiere pro. I made a short video in 1st year, an aural postcard and a documentary about Coronavirus. Resilience, planning, teamwork and patience skills.

Skills to be improved:
- Having a clear understanding of what we need to accomplish and ensuring our ideas are strong and well planned.
- I’d also like to improve on my editing skills as I’m still unfamiliar with some of premiere pro’s features.
- Becoming more confident by putting my ideas forward and having more input in the team.

Teamwork qualities:
- I enjoy working in team because group projects encourage creativity, and everyone’s skills are blended together to achieve success.
- I think I am a good team member as I am well-organised, have good time management and I always try to stay resilient when things get tough.

Pitch script: Hi, I’m Summer. I think I am a good team member as during group projects I am always well-organised, I have good time management and I always try to stay resilient when things get tough. I started off using iMovie and Photoshop when I done GCSE Media and I also made short videos as a hobby. From this I gained basic video editing and management skills. I also have skills in Final Cut Pro and Photoshop from a level media where I had to make a horror film trailer. From this I learnt how to stay patient during video editing and I also learnt that planning is very important during group projects. Last year I also worked in a team to make a documentary about Coronavirus which was very memorable. I’d like to improve on my editing skills as I’m still unfamiliar with some of premiere pro’s features. I’d also like to become more confident by putting my ideas forward and having more input in my group. I enjoy working in teams because group projects encourage creativity, and everyone’s skills are blended together to achieve success.
